We check in online this morning, and all is OK… apart from the fact that the app asks us for a payment of £79 to access the lounge. I was under the impression that was all included in the ticket. I do some more research and discover that we have a Business Class Value ticket, and as from March the 4th this year, that class does not include lounge access. The good news is, tickets purchased prior to this date still qualify.

I print out all the documentation in case we encounter any hassle at the airport and need proof of lounge access.

Reading Services

As has become quite the Howard Tradition now, we stop at Reading services on the way for a Greggs Caramel Custard Doughnut and Cappuccino.

Premier Inn, Heathrow

As we leave the services, the heavens open, and we experience quite a cloudburst, creating a lot of surface water, and slowing the traffic right down. It is still raining heavily by the time we pull up outside the hotel. We sit in the car for a while, hoping it will stop, but eventually we get so bored that getting wet seems preferable.

After checking in, we wander down to the restaurant for an early dinner. Just as we sit down, we get an email from Mark at Undiscovered Destinations, explaining that there have been a couple of changes to our Pakistan itinerary, although surprisingly not as a result of the recent floods.

Dinner

A delightful waitress from Punjab in India serves us this evening and chats to us about her family back home and her study in the UK.

My linguini with baby tomatoes and chilli. It has a slight kick and is very enjoyable.

David chooses a chicken and pulled ham pie with a cheese crust. He tells me the cheese goes very well with the filling, and the whole thing is quite rich.

For dessert I have the vegan chocolate tart with raspberries, which is as enjoyable as always (one of my favourites in a Thyme Restaurant)

David picks the sticky toffee pudding with ice cream which he very much enjoys

We both finish off with double Tia Marias and a cappuccino each. The bill comes to a very reasonable £79.

With a very early start tomorrow morning, we are in bed by 21:00.
